One of the highlights of our trip

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time here at the Museo! We came in around 9am without any reservation and only had to wait about 10 minutes. Johnny brought us fresh fruit and cold water and showed us around while we waited for another tour guide. Genesis was an amazing guide- we learned so much about fruits and plants that are native to Costa Rica. Their space is beautiful and it was enjoyable to walk around. The best part was the last 30 minutes or so when we made our own chocolate! We all got to choose what to add (banana was my favorite). The tour guides were all so personable and welcoming. I would really recommend the tour here. Thank you for having us!!
Anthony was the Best

While it's possible to learn lot from just looking t the handful of displays and posters, you really need to take the ben to bar class to get the full affect. Our guide, Anthony, was personable, very friendly, and took the time to answer off-script questions. Our group was small, just three, but nothing was shortened. What I really appreciated was when some other museum visitors come in (it's all one room) nd tried to graft themselves into our class, our guide respected our time and didn't include them while another staff member gently directed them to another display. We highly recommend Bean to Bar and particularly Anthony as teacher.
Chocolate Making and Tasting

We really enjoyed our 1.5 hour chocolate making class with Anthony as our host. We came into the shop to look around and when we asked if we could do the class right away he was kind enough to do it even though no one else was there to join. During our essentially private tour Anthony gave us lots of good information on the cacao tree and how they grow, are harvested and various products made from them, with the focus of course being chocolate making.

We also learned about traditional methods and ceremonies around chocolate and made three types of chocolate drinks, all of which were tasty. The last part of the class was a chance to make our own chocolates with chosen flavour additions (cinnamon, coconut flakes, salt etc.). Anthony made it all fun along the way with good humour and interesting information and encouraged our questions.

Definitely a fun way to spend some time between eco adventure tours!

Eva taught me everything I ever wanted to know about chocolate. She was so engaging about the history of chocolate. Don't miss visiting her upstairs at the chocolate museum! We bought a variety of beans. Don't forget to leave Eva a tip for her fantastic presentation!
Education is Delicious

Great experience! We had Anthony as our instructor and he was wonderful. He explained everything about the chocolate making process from bean extraction to bar or beverage. Together we examined the historical significance of cocoa and how it was used throughout Central and South America. Very educational and very good chocolate!
